How to reach Montalcino - Tuscany
By car:
it is the more suitable way to reach Montalcino - Tuscany from Florence, Siena or Rome, and the distance constitutes a splendid tourist trip in itself.
From Florence to Montalcino - Tuscany
Freeway for Siena:
Escape SIENA SUD, continue for SS2 - ROME
From Siena:
through SS2, direction Monteroni, Buonconvento.
After Buonconvento, turn right toward Montalcino - Tuscany.
From Rome to Montalcino - Tuscany
A1 motorway, escape:
VALDICHIANA (168 km), then continue a first
stretch to Siena direction,
make a detour toward Sinalunga and continue for Trequanda, Montisi,
San Giovanni d'Asso, Torrenieri, Montalcino (40 Km).
From Chiusi to Montalcino - Tuscany
From A1 motorway escape at the toll-booth FIRENZE CERTOSA and enter into the Florence - Siena highway
From Siena:
enter the SS2 - Cassia toward Grosseto - Viterbo. Near Buonconvento and Torrenieri turn right toward Montalcino
By train:
this is not the fastest way to reach Montalcino - Tuscany. From Florence there are 4 fast trains a day, and the nearest station to Montalcino is BUONCONVENTO (10 Km).
There are other railway connections from Florence to Siena but with change in Empoli, and then from Siena you must continue for Montalcino by bus.
By bus:
The faster way to reach Montalcino - Tuscany with public transports is the BUS. From Florence to Siena there is a fast line (SITA), via highway, very efficient. The Florence terminus station is situated at a few meters from the railway station; in Siena there are many connections for Montalcino from the same terminus.
By plane:
The nearest airports are Pisa and Florence, or Rome and Milan coming from abroad. From here it is possible to go on with train or with the line bus.
